Review of Edmonton, AB concert
17.00 - Kasim Sulton receives a kind of mention in this review of the concert that he played with Meat Loaf on 4th March in Edmonton, AB. (The mention is "His pipes were often covered in the sweet ABBA / Queen - like gravy provided by his six musicians and two back-up vocalists."!)

There is also a thread about this concert on MeatLoaf.net here (the third post includes the phrase "Also kudos to Kasim"!) and on MLUKFC.com here which has photos (including one of Kasim in the 6th post).

Meat Loaf concert in Upper Darby, PA
15.30 - Apparently the set list for the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played last night in Upper Darby, PA was:

All Revved Up
Paradise By The Dashboard Light
You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth
Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire)
Life Is A Lemon
Anything For Love
Objects In The Rear View Mirror
Rock 'n' Roll Dreams

Seize The Night
The Monster Is Loose
Bad For Good
If It Ain't Broke
Blind As A Bat
Two Outta Three Ain't Bad
Bat Out Of Hell

Black Betty
Mercury Blues
Gimme Shelter

Apparently there was no opening act and they played a different arrangement in Bad For Good. When the tour first started there was no saxophone solo but at the previous concert (Syracuse, NY) they added two sax solos during the song. Last night the sax solo was played at the start of the song.

At the start of the concert when they were dressed in 70s-style clothes, Kasim wore an orange and white tie-dyed tunic top.

Many thanks to Kathy Borror for the above info.

So far no Meat Loaf fans have posted any reviews of last night's concert but there is a (negative) comment in this Blog.

12.30 - Last night Kasim Sulton played a concert on the Meat Loaf Seize The Night (Bat Out Of Hell III) Tour in Upper Darby, PA and tomorrow night he plays the next concert on the tour in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Upper Darby to Poughkeepsie is 170 miles (almost) due north by road which will take about three and a half hours to drive.

Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour Mileage by road to date (estimated) - 9,469 miles.

Kasim Kasim Sulton on UK TV
08.00 - Kasim Sulton was shown (very) briefly on UK television last night when I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) was voted #76 in the Top 100 Most Annoying Pop Songs. The clip shown was from the televised concert in Miami, FL in 1993 which showed Kasim playing the keyboards.

The dialogue indicated that the part of the song that annoyed most people was regarding what "that" is. Towards the end of the section they had a brief interview with Lorriane Crosby (who sang the duet part on the track) and she explained that "that" is the "screwing around" part. However that totally contradicts the explaination that Meat Loaf used to give each night on The StoryTellers Tour in 1999 / 2000.

Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour Kasim Sulton in Upper Darby (Philadelphia)
15.00 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the 14th concert of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour. The concert tonight is at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA and starts at 8.00pm. No opening act has been announced.

The Tower Theatre, on the corner of 69th and Ludlow in Upper Darby, PA (just outside Philadelphia), began life in 1927. The theater is named due to the large blue tower-like structure that sits atop the building (a few years ago it used to have a large lighted rotating ball on top too). This venue is famous for David Bowie recording his 10th July 1974 show here and releasing it as David Live. Lots of performances of the radio shows The King Biscuit Flower Hour (on which Utopia played several times) were also recorded here.

The last time that Kasim Sulton played at the Tower Theatre was on 8th May 2004 on the Todd Rundgren Liars Tour.

Earlier today there were tickets available in the 8th row at this 3,119 seat venue. These were probably promoters' tickets that have been released recently as the concert has been selling well. There is limited parking in the area.

08.00 - Click here to view a video clip of the start of the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played on the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour at the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, ON on Tuesday evening (20th).

It appears that they wore 70s-style clothes again at the start of the set (hence the photo of Kasim to the left!).

Kasim Sulton's All Sides album Kasim Sulton's All Sides album
07.45 - I've been receiving a lot of e-mails from people worried that they haven't received their copies of Kasim Sulton's latest album All Sides yet. From what I can gather nobody has received a copy yet as there appears to be another delay. Hopefully the albums will be sent soon.

The album can be purchased from this link and costs $24.95. Free shipping is available if delivered to US only (some people received an e-mail indicating that free shiping was offered worldwide but that does not appear to be the case).

Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour Kasim Sulton in Syracuse
18.15 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the 13th concert of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour at the War Memorial OnCenter in Syracuse, NY.

Currently TicketMaster are saying that tickets are no longer available for this concert. Whether that is because they are sold out or because it is too near the start time is unclear. Tickets are $35.00 to $49.50 (plus charges). The concert starts at 8.00pm. Marion Raven will not be opening this concert but it hasn't been announced yet whether there will be an opening act or not. The address of the venue is 515 Montgomery Street, Syracuse, NY 13202.

The War Memorial at Oncenter was originally called the Onondaga War Memorial when it was built in 1951. It is a 6,230 seat multi-purpose arena and has the distinction of being the building with the first poured-in-place concrete roof in the US. As well as concerts, this venue is home to the Syracuse Crunch Ice Hockey Team.

Meat Loaf concert in Hamilton, ON
09.30 - There are 3 threads of reviews and photos of the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played on Tuesday (20th) at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, ON.

Click here, here and here to view them. (They are available for non-members of Meat Loaf's official website to view.)

Unfortunately none of the reviews mention Kasim Sulton and apparently the venue seats up to 19,000 people but none of them have managed to upload onto the Internet a clear photo of Kasim from that concert so far! I have been assured that he was on stage that night!

Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour Review of Meat Loaf concert in London, ON
19.00 - The Gazette has a review by Dylan Clark of the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played on Sunday (18th) at The John Labatt Centre in London, ON.

The review isn't very complimentary about Meat Loaf but he does praise the band (although he doesn't mention Kasim by name at all).

02.00 - Click here to read a review on LondonFreePress.com of the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played on Sunday (18th) at The John Labatt Centre in London, ON.

This thread on MeatLoaf.net has a couple of reviews of the same concert plus photos (although none of Kasim). The second review contains the phrase "Kasim Sulton was everywhere around the stage playing that bass guitar of his and presumably assuming his duties of musical director helping to make the show come off with as few hitches as possible.".

Apparently the concert was filmed for a DVD release and included special effects like real flames during Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire). Also some of the band apparently dressed in 70s style clothes at the beginning of the concert!

Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the 11th concert of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour at The John Labatt Centre in London, ON, Canada.
Kasim Sulton Meat Loaf Ottawa concert
14.30 - The set list for the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played on Friday evening at at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON, Canada was:

All Revved Up
Paradise By The Dashboard Light
You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth
Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire)
Life Is A Lemon
Anything For Love
Objects In The Rear View Mirror
Rock 'n' Roll Dreams

The Monster Is Loose
Bad For Good
If It Ain't Broke
Blind As A Bat
Two Outta Three Ain't Bad
Bat Out Of Hell

Black Betty
It's All Coming Back To Me Now
Mercury Blues
Gimme Shelter

Changes to the set list at this concert was that Rock 'n' Roll Dreams was after Objects In The Rear View Mirror (just before the interval) and that there were four songs in the encore for the first time. (We believe that this was the longest concert of the tour so far.)

There are a load of photos of this concert by GCotton in this thread on Meat Loaf's official website MeatLoaf.net. There's also a couple a couple of reviews in the thread too.

Many thanks to Kathy Borror for the set list.

08.30 - There's a review of the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played on 11th March in Winnipeg on BlogCritics.org here.

Meat Loaf tour venue Kasim Sulton at the Hummingbird Centre in Toronto, ON, Canada
02.15 - The set list for the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton played on Wednesday evening at at The Hummingbird Centre in Toronto, ON, Canada was:

Kasim Sulton All Revved Up
Paradise By The Dashboard Light
You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth
Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire)
Life Is A Lemon
Anything For Love
Objects In The Rear View Mirror

Seize The Night
The Monster Is Loose
Bad For Good
If It Ain't Broke
Two Outta Three Ain't Bad
Bat Out Of Hell

Black Betty
Mercury Blues
Gimme Shelter

Apparently the set list was slightly shorter due to a 10.30pm curfew imposed by the venue (Meat Loaf posted on his official website that they came off the stage at 10.29pm!) so they omitted Rock 'n' Roll Dreams from the first act, Blind As A Bat from the second act and It's All Coming Back To Me Now from the encore.

Marion Raven (with Randy Flowers) was the opening act.

This 3,000+ seater venue was sold out.

Unfortunately it was a very staid audience as they sat throughout the whole show (including Bat Out Of Hell!).

Kasim Sulton wore a dark shirt (possibly brown or dark turquoise) with black pants in the first act and his heavy flock patterned silver jacket, white shirt and black pants for the second part of the concert.

Apparently an amusing thing happened at the beginning of Two Outta Three Ain't Bad as Kasim's bass started emitting a strange sound which made Meat Loaf stop his spiel and mention it! Eventually Kasim went off stage and changed his bass but before that I was told that Meat Loaf suggested that he hummed the beginning of the song which he did with the band playing their instruments too which sounds like a real highlight of the show!

Many thanks to Kathy Borror for the above info.

Meat Loaf tour venue Kasim Sulton at the Hummingbird Centre in Toronto, ON, Canada
02.15 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the 9th concert (the 7th in Canada) of the Meat Loaf Bat Out Of Hell III Tour. The concert tonight is at the Hummingbird Centre in Toronto, ON, Canada. The concert starts tonight at 7.30pm and this is a link to the venue website.

Meat Loaf tour venue Tickets for the concert tonight are CA $67.65 to a massive $151.65 (plus convenience charge and order processing fee) which are the most expensive tickets of the tour so far (less the official fan club VIP tickets). At a previous concert I compared the Meat Loaf concert tickets to a much more expensive Rod Stewart concert at the same venue. However at this venue the only big rock name playing in the next few weeks is Simply Red and tickets for that concert are only $27.65 to $87.65. Apparently this venue only has just over 3,000 seats (so is one of the smaller venues) and the best seats currently available are in the 20th row. Marion Raven is the opening act.

Meat Loaf tour venue This is the first time that Kasim Sulton has played here in recent years although the venue has been open for over 40 years. This venue was known as The O'Keefe Centre and opened on October 1, 1960 with a performance of the musical Camelot starring Richard Burton and Julie Andrews! It was renamed the Hummingbird Centre in 1996 (in recognition of a major gift from a Canadian software company) and now covers a huge spectrum of various arts. Both The National Ballet of Canada and The Canadian Opera Company have made The Hummingbird Centre their home venues.

Other notable performers who have performed here include Ethel Merman, Angela Lansbury, Yul Brynner, Duke Ellington, Marlene Dietrich, Diana Ross, Shirley MacLaine, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., Liza Minnelli, and Liberace!
