Sunday 18th April 2004
18.45 - Click here to read a thread on the Meat Loaf UK Fan Club messageboard about the Todd Rundgren gigs that Kasim is playing in UK.
18.30 - The set list, a review and some comments about the Columbus, Ohio concert have been added to the Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour section of the site or click here for the direct link.
18.15 - The Rochester gig on Tuesday starts at 7.30 "sharp" according to the venue website (doors open at 6.30pm). Kasim receives a mention on the venue website here (with both his and John Ferenzik's surnames spelt incorrectly!).
05.30 - The set lists for the Chicago gigs have been added to the Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour section of the site. Many thanks to Jeff Gauss for this info.
04.45 - One more photo of Kasim Sulton on the tour has been added online here (it seems that security has been very strict against taking photos at the first few concerts).
04.30 - There have still been few mentions of Kasim in the reviews of the concerts to date but this one on TRConnection.com is mainly about him! In case it disappears at some point, it says:
"My one and only gripe (can't blame Todd for a non-working guitar setup) is that Kazim doesn't get to sing any lead. I know it's Todd's show but when you have one of the other best voices in Rock n Roll touring with you why not one song?"
04.15 - The gig at The Norva that was scheduled for 9th May but was then moved to 16th May has now been re-scheduled for 16th May! Also the venue has been confirmed for the Houston, Texas concert. The Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour section of the site has been updated with the links.
04.00 - For anyone who comes straight to this page of the site, just a reminder that on the front page the On This Day section and the bumper sticker change most days. Plus the latest news is added there and the photo of Kasim Sulton is changed often.

Friday 16th April 2004
11.15 - Some fans of Kasim have been adding some "Beautiful artwork" to the messageboard attached to KasimInfo.com. The best drawings featuring Kasim are:
Kasim running from Christine
Meat Loaf's band
Douglas Kennedy
Do It!
Kasim releasing his mouse
Kasim and Doug rehearsing for the Dock Street gig and a more detailed picture of Meat Loaf's band
Kasim with his guitar pics
Kasim's cancelled gig in Chicago
Kasim dressed as a priest
Kasim getting stressed at his online chat! - I think this is the funniest one!

10.30 - Click here for a great Kasim Sulton orientated review of the Columbus concert on Wednesday.

Thursday 15th April 2004
11.15 - Kasim is now mentioned on the official website of Jesse Gress:
"A Note from Jesse - March 31, 2004
Howdy All!
I'm thrilled and delighted to be reuniting with Todd Rundgren and bandmates John Ferenzik, Kasim Sulton, and Prairie Prince for a major band tour. Todd's new album Liars (Sanctuary) drops on 4/6 and it absolutely rocks! The first leg of the Todd Rundgren & the Liars Tour kicks off on 4/8 and promises to be quite a spectacle. See you on the road!
"
10.00 - So far there's only been a couple of reviews posted about the concert in Columbus, OH last night here. Kasim just receives one brief mention in one:
"The outfits in the beginning of the show are great! I assumed these are the outfits Rachel Culp helped with. But when they came back with the "pimp suits" on this was a sight to see! Kas' suit was awesome, looked to be light peach/pink and was tailored beautifully, with a shirt and tie underneath he looked soooo handsome".
Someone also mentioned that the bass was very loud (at least on the left side of the venue).
06.15 - Kasim receives a mention on The Moon website. Although fans of Kasim (and Kasim himself) complain when his surname is spelt incorrectly, spare a thought for poor John Ferenzik as that website get both his names wrong! It says:
"TODD RUNDGREN & THE LIARS Monday, May 17
This concert features Todd with his full band (The Liars) featuring Kasim Sultan (Utopia), Prairie Prince (The Tubes) along with Jon Forensik & Jesse Gress."
05.15 - Over 5,000 hits on KasimInfo.com again yesterday - not bad for a website about "a mere bass player"!
04.15 - There are a couple of photos of Kasim Sulton from Saturday night here and here.

Wednesday 14th April 2004
18.30 - There's a new message from Kasim on the front page of KasimSulton.com, plus a photo of all the band dressed in their "renegade priests" outfits here.
10.15 - Some reviews of the first three concerts of the Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour have been added to the Gigs section of the site.
08.15 - Part of a nice e-mail I received about the first three concerts said:
"The cosummate professional and sometimes-bandleader, Kasim seemed quite disappointed with the first two shows. Sunday, how ever, it looked as if the sun had risen and he was happy to wake up in the warmth.
He was very appreciative of all the support from all the fans.
This is gonna be one amaaaaazing tour once all the kinks get out...amaaaaaaaaaaazing.
"
07.00 - Someone posted on the messageboard attacted to TRConnection.com that "the word at HOB-Chicago on Saturday night was that the tour's gonna swing up and/or down the left coast starting in August". Elsewhere someone has posted that a concert in Glasgow, Scotland in July is expected to be added within the next week.
06.45 - After the first three concerts some of the main Kasim mentions on the messageboard attacted to TRConnection.com are:
"I spent some time with Kasim after the show and he confirmed it - he knew there were problems and that they botched up on some.I assured him that they still sounded fantastic. Kasim's background vocals were excellant and his bass playing. He was rocking and you could feel the vibes running through your body."
"Prairie wasn’t sure about endings and really had to rely on visual cues from Kasim or Todd, and even that didn’t always work. Kas, Jesse and John were guessing at arrangements and vocal cues. After a killer jam on Kool & The Gang’s “Funky Stuff”, they attempted to switch into something else and pretty much de-railed. It was loose but a lot of fun. It was very much like watching a rehearsal but that really didn’t bother me."
"According to someone who had spoken with Kas before last night's HOB show, the "rehearsals" mostly consisted of Todd showing the band how he played various tunes on the computer. They only apparently only actually tried to "play" them live for 3 or 4 hours."
There is also the interesting comment in a thread about a 1982 concert that some one remembered:
"Utopia was ON that day too, other than Kasim recovering from a cold (some high notes weren't happening - for example "Swing To The Right")."
05.30 - Contrary to the official press release, tickets for the Manchester, England concert went on sale this morning via the venue website. Many thanks to Andy King for this info. The Birmingham, England concert will go on sale tomorrow.
04.15 - Click here for a thread about the Chicago concerts and here for one about Kasim Sulton's clothes (costumes?) on stage.
03.00 - Issue #8 has now been uploaded to the The Kasim Sulton Magazine section of the website for non-subscribers to download. This issue was originally published on Tuesday 7th October 2003 and included the following features:
Something's Gonna Happen (news round-up)
Couldn't Have Said It Better album
Gold Earring interview
Heaven Help The Child
Kasim Sulton and Horoscopes
Kasim Sulton's Solo Career Part III

Kasim Sulton at The Bitter End - 4/14/01
Kasim Sulton at The Bitter End three years ago tonight

Sunday 11th April 2004
13.00 - TRConnection.com now has a review of the concert last night in Chicago here. The Kasim part says:
"Kasim was great! I remember him doing a show at the Borders books by my house about a year ago and only like 15 people showed up, but we were blown away by his voice and musicianship. He is a great asset to TR. "
There is also a great Kasim based review of last nights show here.
12.30 - SphereSound.com have a nice message on their website about Quid Pro Quo with a graphic of the album cover with "SOLD OUT" on it! It says:
"Congratulations to Kasim Sulton!
The Quid Pro Quo limited edition CD is SOLD OUT !
Edition # 2 coming soon...
"
In case you are still unsure whether to consider purchasing the new edition of the album, there is still a link on that page to listen to Sacrifice.
11.30 - For anybody who has not followed a Todd Rundgren tour on the Internet before, the place to look is THE Todd Rundgren website TRConnection.com. So far there have only been two brief reviews posted anywhere about the concert last night (one saying that it was the best Todd concert that he had seen and one saying that there were loads of mistakes and words forgotten!) but here is a detailed review of the concert on Thursday. The main Kasim Sulton mentions (but not all) are:
"The stage itself- think of the pod tour with a cathedral shaped mini truss frame of each musician- Prairie to the left, then Kasim, Jesse and finally John Ferenzik and a wider one around Todd. Embedded in these trusses- think surburban television antenna tower- were mini LED spotlghts- some in round configurations- some in rectangles in every rainbow shade of the modern bubble jet printer."
"Truth opened the show as noted elsewhere with Kasim, Jesse and John all playing keyboards."
"Buffalo Grass found Todd taking off his coat for some push mower power chord meditations. Kasim picked up his bass and Jesse his guitar for the first time of the eveing a house rocking event from all appearances."
"There is a semi-standing ovation. Kas and TR exchange bows. "
"As Kasim's bass subsonics raise the hair on the back of your neck. "
"Kasim sets the bass line and the band finally falls into a feel good singalong with TR testifying to the joy. The final encore of Just One Victory is greeting by the throng like a long lost love and in a polaroid moment Todd soloes facing Kasim at the front of the stage and then..... WORLDWIDE EPIPHANY and the place goes up! "
"And all the guys in the band had their cds available. "

Saturday 10th April 2004
20.30 - Kasim Sulton and Jesse Gress will be making an in-store appearance on Tuesday 20th April at 12.30pm at The House Of Guitars in Rochester, NY. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with full details. Kasim and Jesse will be performing a couple songs, signing autographs, etc...
07.30 - Two photos of Kasim Sulton have been added to TRConnection.com here and here.
07.15 - Pollstar.com have updated their listings so that they now also show the Norfolk, VA gig as 16th May. The Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour section of the site has been updated. According to a friend in the business The Norva have the financial resources to fly bands in if neccessary (the gigs before and after this concert that week are in Florida).
03.30 - Kasim Sulton receives a brief mention in passing on LiveDaily.com, plus there is some interesting info on the "tech-savy tour".

Kasim Sulton lookalike ???
A couple of months ago I posted on the site the fact that I believed that Tom Cruise has a passing similarity to Kasim Sulton. A few people told me (in no uncertain terms!) that they didn't agree! Apparently soon after that, the talk at the backstage gate at Wembley Arena was that some people there thought that Kasim looked similar to Shakin Stevens (pictured above) - I can't see the similarity myself!

Friday 9th April 2004
20.15 - A few reviews of the concert last night have been added to the Internet. Click here for one by Jeff Gauss (at the bottom of the page), here for one by Janet Spahr and here for a "refreshingly honest" review from a bass newsgroup. Due to my phobia of all things Kasim disappearing off the Internet, the Kasim mentions in the above reviews are:
"Kasim's tune may be worked into the set then...although he is definitely featured quite a bit during the show, especially his ever-amazing vocals. He plays keys as well as bass, he and Jesse have these wild-looking keyboards that are like ironing boards in that they can be easily moved into place."
"I was lucky enough to also meet Kasim!!! He gave me a big hug and all the smiles. I asked him how rehearsals went and he said "well we actually only PLAYED for about 3 hours and didn't get thru all the material!!" Ok - now I know this is gonna be a GREAT show! I LOVE the unrehearsal - fly by your pants stuff - I know Kasim is not too fond of this. He was a bit worried as to what was gonna happen up there. I asked if Kasim was gonna do a song and he said not yet. He said he didn't post any pics at his site cuz he didn't want to spoil the surprise either."
"The 4 guys are lined left to right behind Todd - Prairie - Kasim - Jesse - John as you look at the stage."
"Kasim Sulton was playing a black Spector 5-string, and looking good. Guy still looks like he's 24. Played like he always does, nothing flashy, just solid playing and backup vocals."
"They all came out in costumes, Kasim looked like Father Guido Sarducci."
19.15 - Gigs for Birmingham, England and Manchester, England in July have been discovered on the Internet (tickets are not on sale yet). The Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour section of the site have been updated with the links.
18.15 - Kasim has updated his journal on KasimSulton.com.
10.30 - (At last!) the News section of the site has been updated for January. (It's old news but photos which haven't been seen before on KasimInfo.com.) February, March and April (to date) will be updated over this weekend.
09.30 - The Biography section of the site has been updated.
09.15 - I'm impressed! KasimInfo.com had over 25,000 hits last week!
07.45 - Tickets for the St Louis gig go on sale today at 5.00pm. The Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour section of the site has been updated with the links.
06.30 - The first gig in Holland has been announced for the Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour. It is on Saturday 10th July and is at a large festival in Weert. It appears that Todd will be playing on the main stage (there are two stages) just before the main headline act. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
06.15 - As it appears that the venue has now closed down, the Royal Oak (Detroit) concert that Kasim Sulton was to have played on the the Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour on Tuesday has been cancelled. There has been no news yet about how to get a refund but apparently they are trying to schedule another gig for that area in June or July.
06.00 - Click here for the set list of the first Todd Rundgren gig that Kasim played last night.
03.00 - Due to a change in my working circumstances, I will be unable to produce The Kasim Sulton Magazine every two weeks as I have in the past ten months. It typically takes me 8-10 hours per issue (as I rarely receive any outside assistance) and I would prefer to spend more of that time updating this website (which has been getting behind recently). Instead there will be periodic issues of the magazine (maybe 4 or more times of the year) - after all, I don't know of any recording artist that has a magazine issued solely about them 26 times a year! One of the more popular items in the magazine was the monthly Kasim Sulton Calendar so I will add that to the site each month for people to download and print.

Wednesday 7th April 2004
17.00 - Here is an interesting post about a gig that Kasim Sulton played as part of The Rats in 1974.
14.15 - Apparently the second run of Quid Pro Quo will be available in two weeks and the new competition is expected to start next week.
09.00 - Kasim Sulton now receives a mention on the Royal Festival Hall website (the first time I remember seeing him mentioned on a British-aimed website!). As it will disappear after the event, it says:
"Rundgren's live band will include former Utopia bass guitarist Kasim Sulton, Jesse Gress (guitar), John Ferenzik (keyboards) and The Tube's Prairie Prince (drums). This is a highly anticipated concert so book early to avoid disappointment."

Kasim Sulton at Arlene Grocery 4/07/01
To celebrate the fact that it is three years ago today that Kasim Sulton re-launched his solo career, I thought I would add this photo of that evening
