Kasim Sulton, Elliot Easton and Todd Rundgren at The House Of Blues on Tuesday Kasim Sulton on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson
18.15 - The New Cars are still listed on the recording of The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson (the link is here) this coming Tuesday (21st) but are not listed as being on the show that evening (the link is here) nor for the rest of the week.

There are no musicial guests listed for Tuesday and only two guests are listed whereas most of the nights they have three guests on each show.

The New Cars and Blondie Road Rage Tour 2006 concert tickets
Kasim Sulton, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, Todd Rundgren and Prairie Prince are The New Cars 12.15 - Only two days after tickets for the majority of The New Cars Road Rage Tour (with Blondie) went on sale and some of the tickets were available on E-Bay.com for highly inflated prices. While nobody would blame a geniuine fan putting tickets up if (s)he couldn't make the concert to be selling multiple sets of seats so early is obviously due to scalperistic tendencies. For example this auction has 4 seats for $899 (that's $225 each) in the 53rd row but this morning you could still purchase seats in the 44th row for $65! Even the VIP packages are available as this auction has two tickets for the highest price package (which includes a Meet and Greet with Elliot Easton, Todd Rundgren and Greg Hawkes but not Kasim Sulton) and seats in the front row for $1,500 (that's $750 each), however this morning TicketMaster were selling the same VIP package including the Meet and Greet with seats in the second row for $396.25!

When tickets went on sale for almost all the concerts on Tuesday at the same time, it varied considerably from venue to venue on how easy it was to purchase seats in the front few rows. At some of the venues it was relatively easy but at others it was only possible by buying the packages and at other venues the front rows were not available at all.

As there are now 29 concerts it's impossible to cover them all but this is a recap about some of the venues:

  • Tunica, MS - ever since tickets went on sale on Tuesday only seats in the rear block have been available. This venue is not offering the VIP packages and it's possible that the floor may be only for regular casino patrons. Tickets are $50 and $60 for this venue. Seats are currently available in the eighth row of that back block.
  • Grand Prairie, TX - seats were available at the start for the front rows without having to buy a VIP package. Tickets vary from $76.25 to $36.25 (the highest priced package there is $395) for this venue. Tickets are currently not available for this venue as the Internet presale has finished and the general sale starts at 10.00am.
  • Pala, California - seats were available when they first went on sale for at least the fourth row without having to purchase a VIP package. Tickets vary from $85 to $65 (the highest priced package there is $395) for this venue. Tickets are currently available in the 9th row for this venue but the VIP packages only appear to have seats available in the 15th row!
  • San Diego, CA - This concert is all General Admission. Tickets vary from $60 to $370 for a VIP package (but still with GA tickets).
  • Saratoga, CA - ever since tickets went on sale at this venue seats have only been available in the rear of the floor section other than by purchasing VIP packages where seats have been available on the side bleachers (which are also available at the normal prices). Tickets are currently not available for this venue as the Internet presale has finished and the general sale starts at 10.00am.
  • Kelseyville, CA - Tickets went on presale yesterday on the telephone. Although it was difficult to get through, seats were available at the front without having to purchase a VIP package, although there was a compulsory purchase of a ticket to the pre-concert barbeque for $29 included in the price. Tickets vary from $49 to $103.
  • Hinckley, MN - Tickets for this concert went onsale on Sunday 5th March before it was known that The New Cars would be playing (originally the concert was only advertised as Blondie). However these early purchases were only for people who wished to purchase seats for a series of concerts at this venue. Tickets go on general sale later today and vary in price from $32 to $48.
  • Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio - tickets for this venue were available near the front without having to purchase a VIP package as soon as they went on sale. Even today there are seats available in the third row for the basic price of $76.25 and in the second row (but in the middle block) in the VIP package (including a non-Kasim Meet and Greet) for $396.25. Lawn seats are $20.
  • Holmdel, NJ - when tickets first went on sale on Tuesday good seats were available to purchase for the usual price of $65. Even today there are seats available in the 11th row for the basic price and in the 5th row if you purchase the $397.50 VIP package. Lawn seats are $20.
  • Orlando, FL - this venue has General Admission on the floor (at $44.75), plus there were some VIP packages (at $345) which were available for seats on the balcony but now they only seem to be for standing on the floor. There are also "high back chairs" on the balcony for $74.75.
  • Hollywood, FL - seats were available at the front when tickets first went on sale (without having to buy a VIP package) for $85.
  • Atlantic City, NJ - tickets for this venue were General Admission at $45. There are also Reserved Riser seats at $55. The Meet and Greet VIP package at this venue is $365 and includes a seat (which is behind the standing area).
  • Uncasville, CT - seats were available at the basic price of $34 when they first went on sale near the front of the venue. This venue appears to be selling well as today the closest normal priced seat (even just looking for a single) was in the 11th row of the second block back. There are VIP packages available for $355 today with seats in the 5th row.If you purchase the $119 package today the best seats they can offer is in the 8th row of the second block back!
  • If you're reading this and you're a fan of The Cars just think how fans of Blondie, Kasim Sulton and Prairie Prince feel if the best way to get a decent seat at the venue they wish to attend is by buying a $355 VIP package as those musicians aren't included in this deal. Not surprisingly some fans of Todd Rundgren also feel annoyed as on The Liars Tour similar packages were offered for $25.

As with previous tours by Kasim Sulton on the day of each concert a blurb about the venue where he'll be playing will be posted. Also the set lists, reviews and photos of most (if not all) the concerts will be posted. KasimInfo.com welcome reviews and photographs of any gig. Please send all contributions to SueW@KasimInfo.com.

Kasim Sulton, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, Prairie Prince and Todd Rundgren will be touring as The New Cars with Blondie on The Road Rage Tour 2006 The New Cars and Blondie: Road Rage Album

EMusic.com also has 4 tracks that anyone can download - Not Tonight and Just What I Needed by The New Cars and More Than This and Dreaming by Blondie.

Many thanks to MicheleMac for this link.

The New Cars Road Rage Tour - new concert added
12.30 - TicketMaster.com are listing a new concert which will go on sale in 30 minutes. It's on Tuesday 16th May at the Palomar Starlight Theater in Pala Casino, Pala, California.

Also on TicketMaster.com they are offering an auction at the Blosson Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for a backstage barbeque before the concert and a seat in the front 5 rows. The minimum bid is $85 and they have 5 of these 2 seat packages available.

Kasim and The New Cars - media
02.30 - Several fans have posted on various mailing lists and messageboards that they've heard on different radio stations advertisements for the forthcoming New Cars Road Rage Tour (especially in the New York area). Apparently all the band (including Kasim Sulton) are named in the advertisements.

Also it appears that the video for Not Tonight is getting a lot of airplay!

Kasim Sulton Kasim Sulton singing Drive
18.45 - For those who purchased tickets through TicketMaster.com the links and access codes to download 10 tracks on emusic.com are starting to be e-mailed. There are 5 tracks by The New Cars (Just What I Needed, Shake it Up, Let Good Times Roll, Drive and Not Tonight) and 5 by Blondie (Dreaming, Atomic, Rapture, Heart Of Glass and More Than This).

So far I've only listened to Drive and Kasim Sulton's lead vocals sound amazing on it! (Plus he does a nice bit of ad-libbing near the end)

For those who haven't purchased tickets a clip of the beginning of Drive is available for anyone to download on the official New Cars website TheNewCars.com (click on the jukebox in the top right corner).

It's unfortunate that TicketMaster call him Kasim Sultron in the e-mail!

Kasim Sulton, Elliot Easton and Todd Rundgren at The House Of Blues on Tuesday Kasim and The New Cars
17.15 - With so many fans of both Todd Rundgren and The Cars being against this collaboration, it's refreshing to read an article by someone who supports the venture. Click here to read DeaconLight.com's Cliff Notes about why the author believes that it's good that this is going ahead.

A couple of nice quotes are "Kasim Sulton is a perfect addition to this lineup. His voice goes so well with Todd's - he has a great solo voice, too" and "I am grateful that these songs are getting a chance to be heard again".

Kasim Sulton Photos of Kasim at Press Conference
12.15 - Click here for some photos of Kasim Sulton (and the rest of The New Cars) at the press conference and performance at The House Of Blues in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Many thanks to ocsheri for all these photos.

Kasim's official website KasimSulton.com has also been updated with some photos of the press conference.

    Videos of The New Cars
Kasim Sulton 08.00 - Both the interview with The New Cars and the video of the single are now on YouTube.com.

The interview with Kasim Sulton, Elliot Easton, Todd Rundgren and Greg Hawkes lasts about 4 or 5 minutes and they talk about the reformation of The New Cars. Click here to view it.

The video of the single Not Tonight is available to watch here. It shows all 5 members of the band and the more astute people will notice that Kasim actually wears two different sets of clothes in the video!

Many thanks to NoblePR (via TheSurfTalks) for the above links.

Kasim Sulton, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, Todd Rundgren and Prairie Prince are The New Cars Kasim and The New Cars - no show
05.45 - The New Cars didn't perform on Scarborough Country last night on MSNBC for some reason. This appearance was originally posted on (and is still showing on) The New Cars official website TheNewCars.com.

It also seems that Kasim Sulton wasn't involved in the media conference via telephone yesterday, only Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes and Todd Rundgren were involved.

    KasimInfo.com
05.30 - Apologies for the fact that KasimInfo.com was down earlier today but the bandwidth was exceeded! With over 7,000 page hits on Tuesday and over 6,000 yesterday (plus loads of downloads of the video of Kasim Sulton's performance on The Late Show With Jay Leno as part of The New Cars on the new The New Cars TV Appearances page which really eats into the bandwidth), it's hardly surprising!

If this happens again (which is possible this month), please look at KasimInfo.co.uk as I will update that section of the website instead.

Meanwhile this Blog page has been culled (with another chop to happen again soon) which will help this page load faster. We're now up to Blog page 100!
