Saturday 13th January 2007
7 days (ONE WEEK!!!) until Kasim Sulton's 2007 Solo Tour starts!!!
Kasim Sulton Kasim's gig in Schenectady, NY
16.45 - For anybody who has not arranged somewhere to stay for Kasim Sulton's solo gig at The Van Dyck in Schenectady, NY next Saturday night, the fifth post in this thread on the messageboard attached to DouglasRKennedy.com gives a list of hotels in the city plus a few suggestions by Cindi DeCotis of places to eat before the shows. (The Van Dyck also serves food.)

Kasim Sulton in Mannheim, Germany with Meat LoafKasim at Club Cafe, Pittsburgh
07.00 - Kasim Sulton now has a mini write-up on ClubCafeLive.com (where he plays a solo gig on 24th January 2007). It's slightly out of date (and leads off with that dreadful "sideman" tag) but it has one of those great photos of him by Jean Lannen.

The venue website lists the doors as opening at 6.00pm and the show itself as 7.00pm, although it doesn't list whether there is an opening act or not.

According to the venue website there is another show starting at 10.30pm with doors opening at 10.00pm.

Thursday 11th January 2007
9 days until Kasim Sulton's 2007 Solo Tour starts!!!
Kasim Sulton on radio / Internet stream
06.00 - Click here to hear Kasim Sulton's interview with Rob (AKA PrivateUniverse) which was broadcast on the radio station WESU in the Middletown, CT area (and streamed on the Internet) on Tuesday evening. This interview was recorded on Saturday 19th August before Kasim's solo gig in New Haven, CT.

Kasim talks about the forthcoming Meat Loaf tour, songwriting, the charity Kids Against Charity, his feelings about a Utopia Reunion Tour, Bearsville Records, Movin' Out, downloads, Kasim's musical influences and The New Cars.

Many thanks to Vicki Pearson for this recording.

11 days until Kasim Sulton's 2007 Solo Tour starts!!!
Kasim Sulton on the radio tonight
05.15 - A reminder that tonight at 8.15pm EST an interview with Kasim Sulton will be aired on the radio station WESU in the Middletown, CT area. This station also streams on the Internet and can be heard online here.

Kasim was interviewed by Rob (AKA PrivateUniverse) on Saturday 19th August before his solo gig in New Haven, CT. Apparently during the interview Kasim talks about Utopia, The New Cars, the charity Kids Against Cancer, Quid Pro Quo, Meat Loaf, playing on Broadway and more. Rob also say that during the show he'll be playing Kasim's tracks Minutes Slipping Past and Yellow Cab.

Sunday 7th January 2007
13 days until Kasim Sulton's 2007 Solo Tour starts!!!
Kasim Sulton Winter 2006 / 2007 Solo Tour
09.15 - As it's *only* 13 days until the tour starts, it appears that the expected additional date on The Kasim Sulton Winter 2007 Solo Tour will not be going ahead so this is the final Tour Map:

Kasim Sulton Winter 2006 / 2007 Solo Tour

Currently the tour mileage (just venue to venue and not taking into account the driving to and from hotels etc.) is 2,287 miles which would take 34 hours in total (assuming there's no snow or ice!). A roundtrip flight ticket for the 6 flights would cost $1,551. Apart from the Ann Arbor, MI "hiccup"(!), the tour is basically going in a west direction.

In the next two weeks on KasimInfo.com there'll be a mini write-up of each of the venues to help people make up their minds which shows they decide to attend. Tickets are still avavilable for all these gigs.

Saturday 6th January 2007
14 days (TWO WEEKS!!!) until Kasim Sulton's 2007 Solo Tour starts!!!
Kasim Sulton Holiday message and video of Kasim
18.30 - On KSultonBass.com there's a nice message from Kasim Sulton about his KSulton Bass plus a one minute 22 second video of Kasim talking to camera which was recorded on 16th December!

Kasim says that "From the 1st prototype to the final version, there were no less than two dozen changes in materials, electronics, design and hardware that were made in order to get the best possible combination in every aspect of the Bass" !!!

Kasim Sulton in Mannheim - 10/14/06 New Meat Loaf concert
16.00 - Tickets are on sale for a new Meat Loaf concert on Sunday 25th February at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA. Click here for tickets (although the concert is not yet listed on the main venue website).

There's some confusion over the location of the Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton will be playing on Monday 25th June. Originally it was announced by Meat Loaf's official website MeatLoaf.net that the concert would take place at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland but now that website lists that concert as taking place on Wednesday 27th June and on Monday 25th they'll be playing in Amsterdam, Holland (although elsewhere it still says on the site that they'll be in Switzerland that night!).

These gigs are currently the final ones on the European leg of The Meat Loaf Seize The Night Tour. The tour currently starts on 23rd February in Pala, CA.

Kasim Sulton Kasim's gig at The Bitter End
11.00 - The set list, a review, some photos and comments by fans (and Kasim) about Kasim Sulton's gig at The Bitter End in New York City on Friday 29th Dececember have been added to the Kasim Sulton 2006 Gigs and Appearances section or click here for the direct link. More (better!) photos will be added tomorrow.

(Many thanks to the kind person who provided the name of Kasim's first song - Feliz Navidad.)

Friday 5th January 2007

Are You Happy Now
There Goes My Inspiration
Mele Kalikimaka
Sometimes Love Is A Dangerous Thing
Libertine
Before She Was Gone
Drive
Blue Christmas
Sacrifice
Cliché
Minutes Slipping Past
One World
Across The Universe
I'll Be Home For Christmas

(A review and photos will be added tomorrow.)

Kasim Sulton at The State Theatre, Detroit - photo by Michele Kotlarsky Kasim's gig in Chicago
01.15 - Apparently the opening act for Kasim Sulton's solo gig at The Abbey Pub in Chicago, IL on Saturday 27th January is a local band called Easy Tiger. Apparently they are a singer / songwriter duo and consist of Russell Baylin and Dan Wean. Click here to view their MySpace page and listen to some of their music.

According to the venue website, doors for this show open at 6.30pm with Easy Tiger on at 7.00pm. There is a second show afterwards but doors for that do not open until 10.30pm so there's plenty of time for a full Kasim Sulton set!

Kasim Sulton
Apparently the caption of this photo is "If you don’t buy a Kasim hat, your dog will die”!
(Please note KasimInfo.com accepts no liability regarding the health of your pets!)
And remember a Kasim hat is for life, not just for Christmas!

Thursday 4th January 2007

Kasim Sulton at Lily's Pad - photo by MikeB Interview with Kasim on the radio
06.30 - Next Tuesday (9th) at 8.15pm EST an interview with Kasim Sulton will be aired on the radio station WESU in the Middletown, CT area. This station also streams on the Internet and can be heard online here.

Kasim was interviewed by a well known Todd Rundgren fan Rob (AKA PrivateUniverse) on Saturday 19th August before his solo gig in New Haven, CT.

Kasim Sulton with Meat Loaf New Meat Loaf concert
05.30 - An additional Meat Loaf concert has been added for Friday 13th April (unlucky for some!) at the Theater @ Madison Square Garden in New York City. (They are playing at this venue the night before too.) Currently this is the final concert of the US leg of this tour although they are expected to play more concerts there in the summer.

Tickets for this concert go on presale via MeatLoaf.net on Thursday 9th January at 10.00am EST and off presale at 5.00pm on Friday 12th January before they go on sale at normal ticketing agencies and the venue on 13th January. Tickets for the 24th March concert at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, PA are on presale at the same time.

Wednesday 3rd January 2007
17 days until Kasim Sulton's 2007 Solo Tour starts!!!
Kasim Sulton Kasim mentioned in Jim Steinman's Blog
13.00 - Kasim Sulton (and Todd Rundgren) receives a mention in Jim Steinman's Blog entry of 28th December. It's in relation to a concert Jim is hoping to stage at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England in aid of The Great Ormond Street Hospital. Jim writes "Though not definite, I'm hoping KASIM SULTON will be band leader and Music Director".

(Please note that it does say that this is not confirmed and no time period is mentioned.)

Kasim Sulton on Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve with Meat Loaf - 12/09/06 Kasim on The Dick Clark Rockin' Eve
02.15 - Click here for a link to videos and photos of Kasim Sulton on The Dick Clark Rockin' Eve Show which was televised early yesterday morning.

Kasim explained on stage on Friday night at The Bitter End that it was recorded earlier in December in temperatures in the high 70s in Los Angeles.

Many thanks to Vicki Pearson for these videos and photos.

19 days until Kasim Sulton's 2007 Solo Tour starts!!!
Kasim Sulton with Meat Loaf Meat Loaf News
12.30 - New concert
This is posted slightly late but an additional concert has been added to The Meat Loaf Seize The Night Tour. It is on Monday 25th June and is at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland.

Blind As A Bat single
The release of the single Blind As A Bat single (a track from Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose) in Europe has been delayed from 18th December to the end of February. The reason given is to provide time to make a video (although the end of February will be when Meat Loaf is touring in US so will be unable to do much promotion in Europe). No release dates for any single off the album have been announced for US.

Kasim on The Dick Clark Rockin' Eve
09.15 - In the early hours of 2007, Kasim Sulton was shown (as part of Meat Loaf's band) on The Dick Clark Rockin' Eve. They showed all 3 songs that they recorded on 9th December in Los Angeles - Blind As A Bat, Anything For Love and Paradise By The Dashboard Light.

If you missed the performance, a link will be added later to watch the show online.

KasimInfo.com
09.00 - It was six years ago today that KasimInfo.com opened!!!

Back in 1997 / 1998 Brit's excellent Simply Kasim website kept everyone very up to date on all the latest Kasim Sulton news. When that website stopped being updated Kasim Sulton - A Fan's View ran from 1998 until 12/31/2000 and at 9.00am on 1st January 2001 KasimInfo.com opened!

(Actually it was slightly after 9.00am as I couldn't change the holding page - not the most auspicious start!) One little known fact about the website is that this Blog page (for which KasimInfo.com is now widely known) wasn't initially part of the website plan but only came into existance a few days later. This Blog page is used to post news about Kasim and updates to KasimInfo.com plus links to other websites and news reports that mention Kasim. Back in 1998 if you did a search on "Kasim Sulton" on the Internet, there would be maybe 20 items which would come up but a search on Google today produced "about 148,000" entries! (KasimInfo.com is the second rated website!)

The aim of KasimInfo.com has always been to provide as much info about Kasim Sulton as possible for his fans, plus to promote him as far as any fan website can.

Roll on the next 6 years!

KasimInfo.com
05.15 - Just to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped with KasimInfo.com in 2006 by either submitting reviews, photos or info, plus thanks to everyone who has taken the time to e-mail or say at gigs that they enjoy the website.

This year KasimInfo.com and KasimInfo.co.uk have had more hits than any other year with over 900,000 page views! It also had its largest number of hits on one day in March....over 17,000!

Kasim on television tonight
05.00 - A reminder that Kasim Sulton will be on television tonight (and / or early tomorrow morning) on the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve! Kasim will be playing as part of Meat Loaf's band in this show which was recorded earlier this month. They played 3 songs so hopefully all of them will be aired.

Check your listings for the airtimes in your area.

New Kasim Sulton Album
10.00 - Kasim Sulton announced on stage last night that he'll be releasing a new album "in a couple of weeks"! He explained that it with contain a collection of tracks from all four of his previous "solo" releases (Kasim, Lights On, The Basement Tapes and Quid Pro Quo) plus new songs and some special items like unreleased demos and live recordings. It will be a two CD release with about 25 tracks on it.

Here is part of a press release about the album that was written earlier this month:
"Singer/songwriter Kasim Sulton will mark the New Year with the launch of a winter tour and the release of a Best Of CD titled All Sides, due out in January.
While Kasim has spent much of his time contributing to others work, he has also been cultivating a successful solo career, releasing three solo albums and delivering memorable solo performances over the years. Connecticut’s Today newspaper writes "Kasim Sulton is an accomplished songwriter, producer, bassist, guitar player, keyboardist, and has the voice of a happy angel".
"All Sides" will feature several new songs, live tracks and some of the best of his first three solo albums. His previous solo album "Quid Pro Quo" won the Kweevak Viewers Choice Award in 2003. Kasim also plans to release an album of all new music in late 2007.
"

The album will be available to buy both online and at Kasim's upcoming solo gigs.

Kasim's online journal
09.45 - Kasim Sulton has updated his online journal about his gig last night at The Bitter End. Click here to read the post. Kasim concludes his entry with "Have a truly Happy New Year everyone. Here's to a wonderful 2007! I love you all.".
