10 days until Kasim Sulton's gig at The Bitter End in New York City, NY!!
Today Kasim is in rehearsals with Meat Loaf's band in NYC.
Kasim Sulton and Meat Loaf
Kasim Sulton 15.30 - According to an interview with Meat Loaf on the Canadian website CanoeJam.com, he says that the third promo concert will be at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto on Saturday 4th November. (Tickets are not on sale yet.) The other two concerts are in London, England on Monday 16th October and at The Palace Theater in New York City on Thursday 2nd November.

The article continues that Meat Loaf will be doing promo work until mid-December and then "We go into rehearsals -- all this just happened, so you get the inside scoop, you're the first person to report this -- then we go down to Florida for pre-productions and we start touring (arenas) on March 1".

Monday 18th September 2006
11 days until Kasim Sulton's gig at The Bitter End in New York City, NY!!
Today Kasim is in rehearsals with Meat Loaf's band in NYC.
Kasim Sulton Kasim's gig at The Cup
18.30 - The set list, a review, comments and a photo of Kasim Sulton's gig last Saturday night at The Cup in Staten Island, NY have been added to the Kasim's 2006 Tour section of the website or click here for the direct link.

Many thanks to OCSheri for the photo on that page.

Kasim's gig in Valparaiso, IN
12.45 - According to the venue's website Kasim's gig in Valparaiso, IN has been rescheduled for Sunday 28th January 2007! All tickets are valid for the new date or refunds are available.

Let's hope it's 3rd time lucky this time around for this venue!

Kasim and Meat Loaf
01.30 - Kasim Sulton will be in rehearsals with Meat Loaf's band for the next 12 days (hence the Valparaiso, IN cancelation).

A few weeks ago Meat Loaf's female vocalist Patti Russo quit the band (Meat Loaf first mentioned this to a couple of people at his charity golfing weekend in UK at the end of August) and Kasim said at The Cup on Saturday night that they'd auditioned about 15 girls for the role and finally found one that day. As Meat Loaf is also adding another musician to the band too, Kasim has said that he will be in rehearsals (starting today) for the next 12 days with the band as they have promo gigs coming up in London, New York and Toronto.

According to a post to a mailing list by Jennifer Salyer, Aspen Miller will be the new female vocalist in the band.

Kasim's gig in Valparaiso, IN
01.00 - Unfortunately Kasim Sulton has had to cancel his gig in Valparaiso, IN next Sunday due to extended rehearsals with Meat Loaf's band (see the item above). Kasim speaks about his regret regarding this cancelation in his online journal.

Kasim also asks that people do not get their tickets refunded as he plans to re-schedule the gig.

Saturday 16th September 2006
Tonight Kasim Sulton plays a gig at The Cup on Staten Island, NY!!
Kasim Sulton
Kasim Sulton at The Cup
01.30 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the tenth gig of his The Kasim Sulton 2006 Tour. The gig tonight is at The Cup which is Kasim's home turf of Staten Island.

The Cup is described on their website as "1960’s Greenwich Village Coffeehouse meets Downtown Staten Island" and as "a coffee house with a laid back and comfortable feeling"! Apparently they have red brick walls, wood beams and the original tin ceilings with oversized couches so it sounds as though there will be a very relaxed feel to Kasim Sulton's first solo gig on Staten Island since February 2004! That gig was played at Dock Street and was really packed with even the bar area being about 6 deep!

(The Cup website also says that "you can get on-line with our wireless internet, play a game of chess, read a book, or watch a movie on our big screen TV" but hopefully nobody will be doing those things during Kasim's set!!)

As this is known as a coffee house, the venue offers desserts, flavored coffees, cappacinos and teas amongst other things and the price for alchol is reasonable for this type of venue with a glass of wines at $5, imported beer at $4 and domestic beer at $3.

The Cup is located between Beach and Wright Streets. There appears to be some confusion over what time Kasim's set starts as it was origianally advertised as 8.30pm but the venue website says 8.00pm.

Tonight will be the first time that Kasim will sing the recorded version of his new song Are You Happy Now! In the second verse of the song there are lines which say:
You're drinking decaff in Oyster Bay
I'm here in Staten Island half a world away

At his other gigs Kasim has sung the name of the city where he's playing rather than Staten Island but tonight (unless he sings "The Cup"!) we'll hear the recorded lyrics!

Friday 15th September 2006
ONE day until Kasim Sulton's gig at The Cup on Staten Island, NY!!
Interview with Kasim Sulton in Staten Island paper
14.30 - There's a new interview by Ben Johnson in The Staten Island Advance.

One great quote is "I'm really working hard on completing some songs for a new record."! The interview also says that Kasim may be giving out some recordings of some of his new songs at his gig tomorrow evening!

Photos of Kasim in Schenectady
14.15 - 33 great photos by Jennifer Salyer of Kasim Sulton's first set in Schenectady, NY on 2nd September have been added to the Photos section of the website or click here for the direct link.

Many thanks to Jennifer Salyer for all the photos on that page.

Many thanks to Jennifer Salyer for all the photos on that page. Photos of Kasim's first set that evening will be added tomorrow.

09.15 - There are now 27 dates listed on Pollstar.com for The New Cars Tour in November and December. Although Kasim has said that he will not be playing those gigs, the dates and venues are listed here. Even though the tickets for some of the gigs are already on sale, for some reason these dates are not yet listed on The New Cars official website TheNewCars.com!

On TheNewCars.com there are now a few photos of their gig in Atlanta, GA last Friday here. Unfortunately there's only one close-up shot of Kasim here (and then he has his bass across his face), plus one of him catching the tambourine during Bang The Drum here.

Kasim Confusion over Kasim's Solo Gigs
07.00 - There seems to be some confusion over aspects of each of the three remaining gigs on The Kasim Sulton 2006 Tour:

The Cup (Saturday 16th)
The original time announced for Kasim's set was 8.30pm, however The Cup website says that it is 8.00pm.

Chicago Street Theatre (Sunday 24th)
The time for the $75 meal seems to be in doubt. Origianlly it was advertised as a dinner and "somewhere to eat before the gig" but the tickets say that it starts at 3.00pm (4 hours before the start) and Kasim posted that it was a lunch which will start at 1.00pm (six hours before the start of the gig).

The Bitter End (Saturday 29th)
The doors for this gig open at 7.00pm and originally it was announced that Kasim's set would start at 8.00pm and that he would be the first act. However there is now another act listed before him on The Bitter End website and it's doubtful that she will complete her set by 8.00pm. Also it was advertised that tickets will be $18 in advance and $20 at the door but the venue website just lists $20 and there is nowhere to pre-order tickets. (Previously Kasim's official website KasimSulton.com had this gig listed for the past couple of months as Saturday 30th September but I managed to get that changed this week to the correct date.)

Kasim's gig at The Bitter End
06.45 - Kasim Sulton's gig at The Bitter End in New York City on Friday 29th September is now listed on The Bitter End website!

It says that he will be the second of six acts appearing that evening. Unlike his last gig here in July, it doesn't say that this set will be streamed on the Internet.

Interview with Kasim
04.30 - Elixir Strings have a great (detailed!) interview with Kasim Sulton on their website here. It says that the interview was conducted when Kasim was in Las Vegas with The New Cars so that was around 19th May this year.

Kasim talks about how he started playing guitar and bass, Utopia, Joan Jett, playing on Bat Out Of Hell and The New Cars.

Many thanks to Stephanie Regan for finding this interview.

16.30 - Just a reminder that the new Kasim Sulton music can be heard tonight (or rather in the early hours of tomorrow morning)!

Rob (AKA PrivateUniverse) has a radio programme on WESU 88.1 FM in the Middletown, CT area and tomorrow Rob will be playing Yellow Cab and Minutes Slipping Past.

The show airs from 12.30am until 3.00am and the radio station streams on the Internet - the link is here.

Please note that as these tracks will be available on a commercial release by Kasim at some point in the future, this show will not be recorded for download on KasimInfo.com.

DonnaGoat
05.30 - In a thread on the messageboard attached to TRConnection.com, someone has posted the sad news that DonnaGoat passed away on Saturday night of a massive heart attack at age only 42. She leaves a 9 year old daughter.

The first time I heard of Donna was when she posted really excited that Kasim had actually replied to one of her e-mails and she couldn't believe that it was him! She was running an auction to raise money to buy her severely handicapped niece a van so that she could travel more easily and Kasim had kindly offered to donate somthing.

Donna also was the winner of a pair of tickets to see Kasim's solo gig in Philadelphia, PA in July (which involved her travelling for 6 hours there!) and her enthusastic review can be read here.

Kasim Sulton and Pam at The Tin Angel - 7/22/06
I don't have any photos of Donna but this is a photo that she sent me from The Tin Angel gig of Kasim with her sister Pam

Videos of Kasim
12.45 - GoogleVideo is a new service being offered and so far there are 6 Kasim Sulton videos available (or at least 6 which mention Kasim in the description).

Click here for a 22 second clip of Yellow Cab from Kasim's gig in Asbury Park in July, here for 4 clips of The New Cars concerts last Friday and here for a Meat Loaf clip.

Many thanks to the kind people who sent me these links.

Photos of The New Cars in Atlanta, GA
05.30 - TRick909 has posted 35 great photos of The New Cars at their concert in Atlanta, GA on Friday evening here.

Kasim appears in lots of the group photos but the best close-ups of him are:
An action shot (and he's not using his KSulton Bass for some reason)
Kasim and Elliot Easton.
Just Kasim (singing lead vocals on either Drive or All Mixed Up).

Kasim Sulton, Greg Hawkes and Prairie Prince of The New Cars in Pala, California on 16th May 2006 The New Cars in Columbus, Ohio
05.15 - A fan has confirmed to me that The New Cars did play the private gig in Columbus, Ohio last night and that Kasim was a member of the band.

Somehow it seems fitting that a project which started off so shrouded in secrecy ends (at least at the moment) with this sort of function!

Saturday 9th September 2006
1 week until Kasim Sulton's gig at The Cup on Staten Island, NY!!
Concerts update
Kasim Sulton 11.45 - Just an update regarding various forthcoming concerts which Kasim Sulton is involved in.

Kasim Sulton
(The most important one first!)
Kasim will be playing 3 more gigs on this leg of The Kasim Sulton 2006 Tour. These gigs are:
Sat 16th - The Cup, Staten Island, NY
Sun 24th - Chicago Street Theatre, Valparaiso, IN
Sat 29th - The Bitter End, New York City, NY

More details can be found regarding all these gigs here.

As previously stated Kasim's next solo gig is next Saturday on Staten Island. Advance tickets are highly recommended as apparently it's a relatively small venue and it's Kasim's local gig!

The Cup is located at 388 Van Duzer Street and Kasim is due on stage at 8.30pm. At 372 Van Duzer Street, Kasim's brother Alex will be playing a gig with his band Sulton Bedford at Martini Red. It's unclear what time they will be on stage but the club is open from 10.00pm until 2.00am.

The New Cars
According to a (unconfirmed) post on a Todd Rundgren mailing list The New Cars are reported to be flying to Columbus, Ohio today to play at a Honda corporate event. (This would certainly explain why Kasim's gig on Staten Island was moved from tonite until next Saturday.) Many thanks to Michele Mac for this info.

Meat Loaf
Ticket for the London promo concert went on sale on Wednesday this week. The concert is being recorded for a DVD and is being played at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England on Monday 16th October. Although apparently ticket sales went well, some seats are still available at The Royal Albert Hall website.

Meat Loaf recently posted that their current plans are to play 4 songs from Bat Out Of Hell, 4 songs from Bat Out Of Hell 2 and 5 tracks from from Bat Out Of Hell 3.

Tickets for the promo concert(s) at The Palace Theater in New York City at the beginning of November are not yet on sale. The full tour is expected to start in March 2007.

Kasim Sulton in Cleveland, Ohio on 29th August 2006 - photo by Jennifer Salyer Photos of Kasim in Cleveland, Ohio
06.45 - Some great photos of Kasim Sulton and Doug Kennedy at their gig in Cleveland, Ohio have been added to the Photos section of the website or click here for the direct link.

Many thanks to Jennifer Salyer for all the photos on that page.

Kasim Sulton, Greg Hawkes and Prairie Prince of The New Cars in Pala, California on 16th May 2006 Kasim and The New Cars in Atlanta, GA
06.30 - So far there's only been one report online about The New Cars concert last night in Atlanta, GA which was posted to a Cars mailing list. The post included the phrase "I think it was probably about 75% sold so more people showed up than I thought. I really liked Hawke's Sax solo on All Mixed Up and Kasim seemed to do a good job on the two songs he did vocals for.".
