Yellow Submarine

I’ll keep my review short today as I took loads of photos to put on this page!
It was the same set list as last night with Rob Di Nise being the surprise guest again. I asked someone and Malle Babbe is the second song he sings - after hearing it I’m VERY impressed at Kasim managing to sing it phonetically as there are lots of words in it and the tempo frequently changes.
The concert was filmed tonight (to be shown on Dutch television on New Years Eve). I counted seven cameras in total and some of them really got in the way of the performers! The poor percussion guy had to actually push one out of his way so that he didn’t miss an important drum part and then later he had to duck under a boom camera to avoid being hit by it! At one point Kasim Sulton tried to get to his microphone but a cameraman was blocking him! He also twice had to lift his guitar to avoid decapitating another one! Needless to say, there were very few close-up shots of Kasim!

Of course Meat Loaf played the same songs as he has at all the concerts of the tour so far but Paradise By The Dashboard Light had a new twist to it tonight! (As I was high enough up, I saw Kasim go into the audience during the theatrical part of the song and he managed to find a chair so he could sit and stand for a while with the orchestra!)

When Meat Loaf and Patti Russo were doing their arguing part of the song we had the usual “It never felt good with you” and “I wasn’t talking about you” parts and then Meat went over to Kasim’s Jolting Partner, the first violinist, and took his violin from him and proceeded to “play” it! (The sound that came over the speakers was quite impressive but I didn’t see any microphone near him so….!)
Meat Loaf then smashed the violin into pieces on the ground!!! The audience actually gasped at this point and Kasim’s face was a picture! After the first violinist looked quite distraught for a while he produced his proper violin from under his chair!!!

Yellow Submarine was fun again tonight. Last night there was a solitary balloon flying around so tonight all the orchestra had a yellow balloon each! The stars soon got hold of them which was amusing to watch.

Roll on tomorrow night…..!
