It was another brilliant concert tonight! I really like these Dutch concerts as it’s far less crowded standing than in Antwerp (you could easily stand at the barrier at the front if you wanted) and yet the crowd are as enthusiastic as the Belgians too!

The first half was the same set list as always. The compere was Carl Huybrechts in his bright blue and silver suit again. He sings Michael Row The Boat Ashore several times throughout the concert and in the first half gets all the guys who claim they’ve been faithful to sing “Hallelujah” after he’s sing “I did never cheat my wife”. He then gets all the girls who don’t believe them to sing “Hallelujah” after he’s sung “He’s a ba*****d full of lies”!

Between various tracks of classical music we had Martin Fry in his gold lame suit and John Miles singing Mister Blue Sky and his great Music (Was My First Love). Also in the first half there are two tracks by Karl Jenkins from Adiemus.

Chris de Burgh closed the first half with the same four songs as always but tonight he didn’t even attempt to hit the high notes in Lady In Red as even from the first chorus he got the audience to sing the high parts like “I hardly know”. He does better on the deeper songs like The Snows Of New York and I like the fact that he attempts some Dutch in his spiel (he spoke in German in Germany too).

The second half varies more. The surprise guest tonight was some older guy from Belgium who sang two amusing songs that most of the crowd joined in with. The first song he actually didn’t sing but spoke the lyrics - it was mainly in Dutch or Flemish but at one point he said the names ACDC and Michael Jackson.

The high spot of the evening lasted a mere 24 seconds less than last night but was every bit as good! Kasim was wearing a black shirt over a blue T-shirt (blue really suits him!). He came on stage and immediately started laughing with someone in front of him in the audience!

Home By Now / No Matter What sounded great tonight. Meat Loaf’s voice was strong right from the start but during the song, Kasim had a bit of a coughing fit and it was very obvious then that the vocals were weakened considerably when he wasn’t singing.

You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth always seems a bit rushed to me. Maybe it’s because I’m used to the longer version at Meat Loaf concerts but at NOTP it seems that it’s no sooner started than it’s finished! Tonight they moved away from their microphones to just clap quite quickly so Kasim walked around to the left side of the stage to the poor people who would have only seen their back view.

Anything For Love is very dramatic, especially with all the hand held lights that (other!) people have! Again tonight people were clapping so much that Meat Loaf had to get them to be quiet before he could twice not start singing the song!

During the intro into Paradise By The Dashboard Light, Meat Loaf got Laurie Wisefield to stand in the middle of the stage playing his guitar while both Patti and Pearl danced either side of him - with their low cut dresses he didn’t know where to look! Meat then did his “highlighting four out of the best five musicians on stage” part before he started the song! From where I was standing, I couldn’t see if Kasim joined the orchestra in sitting and standing during the acting part of the song tonight.

Again we all had to sing the word "Light" and again Meat Loaf said that it wasn’t good enough (I thought it was actually louder than when one of the German audiences sang it to his satisfaction!) so he, the band and most of the orchestra started walking off stage!

Yellow Submarine was great fun again tonight! Although it’s not the best ever Beatles song, it really suits these relaxed shows! More and more of the orchestra are getting up to slap hands with Meat Loaf - there was a long line before he got to Kasim tonight!

Apparently John’s family were in the audience tonight (he and Pearl were both waving to them) and although it’s Thanksgiving and a holiday in US and I expect that they’d prefer to be over there, all the band really all put in a brilliant performance tonight!

Roll on tomorrow night…..!
