Yellow Submarine

It was back to a standing concert so it was back to a better atmosphere tonight! Although it's tough standing for four or five hours, I far prefer the free atmosphere and boy do these Belgians get into the swing of the shows! It's just an incredible experience standing amongst over 10,000 people who are all swaying and singing to the music - to the artists on stage, it must be even more amazing!
I think it was the same set list as at the second two shows with John Miles and Marco Borsato being the hits of the first half! Music (Was My First Love) is one of the rare songs that actually physically sends shivers down my spine and I’m still amazed each show at the reception Marco Borsato receives as this guy is virtually unknown outside of Belgium and Holland!
For me it was a disappointing beginning to the second half as Bonnie Tyler wasn’t the surprise guest tonight (instead we had the former lead singer of Rolls Royce) which meant that it was only a double dose of Kasim!
As Kasim walked on stage in the half light, it actually looked as though he was bare chested but he was wearing a light brown or grey shirt with a black suit and played his black Spector bass. They had more problems with the sound tonight so a couple of times Kasim went across to the sound desk to sort it out.
Tonight after Home By Now lead into No Matter What, they then went directly into You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth rather than going back to Home By Now. Meat Loaf did his ad libbing part for ages tonight (someone told me later that his whole set lasted 38 minutes) and then all the band came to the front of the stage for the clapping part.
According to the new message on Kasim’s official website KasimSulton.com, they’ve cut eight bars out of the middle of Anything For Love but I must admit that I didn’t notice it - I guess I was concentrating on something else at the time!
Paradise By The Dashboard Light lasted for quite a while tonight as to start with, Meat got Laurie Wisefield (who plays guitar with John Miles) to play the intro for ages and then spotlighted Mark Alexander on the piano too. He also later went into the orchestra and made them all stand to play! Unfortunately the sound guys are still not too sure about when to play the baseball commentary tape so Kasim has to again move over towards them to get it started which means he’s out of the spotlight for quite a while.
After good old Land Of Hope And Glory, Kasim came back on stage for Yellow Submarine - that song is so light-hearted and ALL the artists (Kasim especially) seem to enjoy that part of the show!
