"Lets be clear about this show. TR was very unwell. Its a throw away line to say he had no voice but let me tell you, at this show he had NO VOICE! From what I heard he was OK at soundcheck but for some reason, maybe Melbourne's freezing cold weather on this particular night, TR's voice disappeared. I really thought after a few songs he was going to cancel the show, but remarkably he stayed out there, probably risking permeant injury to his vocal chords, and sang his heart out."

"The set was the same as every other australian show other than him dropping Espresso."

"Unfortunately, Todd was ailing with an almost completely lost voice! Hope it heals up soon, for the next performances. I dunno, it sounded pretty bad."

"Great show, except (as previously mentioned) for Todd's voice. He actually said in passing that he didn't like doing three shows in a row (understandable), and that Melbourne's cold weather might be a contributing factor to his lost voice (probably.) It really was lost... completely shot. Imagine trying to belt out something like "Hawking" in that condition, and you'll have an idea of what Todd was Up Against. He prefaced that and several other songs with something like, 'I dunno, let's see how far we can go with this one...'"

"The man was a complete gentleman, in any case. Obviously, he could have (and probably should have) cancelled the performance, to allow his voice to heal. But it seems that Todd felt that he owed it to his far-flung fans in Melbourne to show up anyway - and you could feel the deep appreciation in the room, which seemed to mainly consist of long-time TR fans. He was highly apologetic and complimentary to the audience, and the love was frequently and accordingly returned."

"The band played brilliantly. Kasim Sulton's delicious bass licks made their presence known as much as anything else."

"Only complaint: small/medium-sized venues like this aren't really good for loud rock. The sound gets trapped, which results in (at least, in the illusion of) noise and feedback. Otherwise, the place was awesome; wonderful atmosphere, colorful lights, great crowd, friendly and helpful staff. Overall, a night to remember - with its imperfections and all, which already seem endearing in retrospect."
