Sons of 1984 "It was a thrill to see & hear these songs again. However...it would have been nice if Todd had taken this more serious & actually practiced his guitar parts. The rest of the band had been practicing together for a couple of weeks prior to the shows...Todd showed up Friday night. These songs are so dependent on the Guitar parts & riffs, it was a big disappointment that Todd messed every one up. None of the solos even resembled the originals, ass Todd was searching all over for the right notes & key." "This show was by far the worst I have ever heard Todd play Guitar. He screwed up every solo & every song. Todd was by far the weakest member of this band. Having said that...it was well worth the $20 to relive the past!" "I got to hear all that music performed live. It was a dream come true as I finally got to hear and see The Ikon plus all those other great songs after all this time. I had a super great time, spoiled only slightly by those few crazies who feel entitled to cut to the front at every concert they attend." "The show started about 8:10. Moogy came out by himself and did a few minutes of improv, including some boogie woogie. He's as great as he ever was. Then Todd came out and sang Never Never Land. The rest of the band came out. Jessie played guitar on the first few numbers and came and went a few more times throughout the evening. Kaz with two other guys on background vocals." "A great show. Tight. You'd hardly think this was their second gig. Todd sang great. The only notes he couldn't hit were the last verse of Freedom Fighters. He lowered the melody."

Chris Epting posted a review of the podcast of this gig here.
The venue (taken from the KasimInfo.com Blog that day):
Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the second and final gig which is being promoted as Utopia MK II to raise money to help Moogy Klingman's medical expenses as he battles cancer.
(The name is a clever play as most people assume that it means Mark II (i.e. version 2) but as it is written MK II it is also Moogy's initials.)
The band will again consist of Todd Rundgren, Moogy Klingman, Ralph Schuckett, John Siegler, Kevin Ellman, Kasim Sulton and Jesse Gress. Kasim will be playing keyboards and guitar and will sing lead on Set Me Free.
The gig tonight is at The Highline Ballroom which is located at 431 W 16th St New York, NY 10011 (between 9th and 10th Ave). The gig starts at the slightly later time of 8pm with doors opening at 6pm. Tickets were $40.00 in advance and should have been $45.00 on the door but tonight's gig has already sold out again.
However tonight's gig will be broadcast over the internet from Wednesday for 30 days. Click here for details about how to watch it. The podcast costs $19.95 with proceeds going to help Moogy.
