Website closing
15.30 - It's always sad when a website which gave a great deal of support to Kasim Sulton closes and unfortunately ChicagoGigs.com fits that description. Mike O'Cull gave a great review of Kasim's appearance at The Abbey Pub on 16th February 2002 (his quote "Kasim is a songwriter of uncommon gifts. I cannot recommend this performer highly enough to anyone who is a fan of pop music or singer/songwriters in general. He was simply one of the best I've ever seen" is used on the front page of KasimInfo.com) and Beth Shandles took some great photos of Kasim that night. Click here to view them one last time before it disappears.

Kasim's journal updated
10.30 - Kasim Sulton has updated his online journal about the end of the Meat Loaf tour. There are also photos posted of Kasim himself here, here, here, here, here and here.
Kasim at GuitarFest'05
06.45 - As previously mentioned on KasimInfo.com, this afternoon Kasim Sulton will be playing at GuitarFest'05 in New Berlin, WI. Kasim is expected to play about a 45 minute set and this may (sadly) be his only solo appearance on American soil of 2005 (other than 4 opening sets at Meat Loaf concerts). Click here for more info.
Meat Loaf US Tour mileage
06.30 - I was slightly unsure about where to finish the Meat Loaf Hair Of The Dog Tour mileage but as I started the calculation in New York City (the venue for the first concert of the tour), I thought I would finish it at the last venue of the tour (Kansas City), although of course Kasim had to travel to New York City and will have to (eventually) travel home from the tour but as he's not directly going home this will be the best place to end it. This is in no way 100% accurate as I can't calculate the miles that he was driven from venues to hotels and sometimes they flew (and Kasim probably walks a couple of miles on stage each night at the concerts!) but it does give a rough estimate.
Meat Loaf Hair Of The Dog US Tour Total: 10,834 miles!
(Incidentally today Kasim travels from Kansas City, MO to New Berlin, WI which is another 552 miles!)

Friday 30th September 2005 - Kasim plays a Meat Loaf concert tonight at the Star Pavilion, Kansas City, MO

Kasim in Kansas City, MO
01.30 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the 47th and final concert of the Meat Loaf Hair Of The Dog Tour. This concert is at the Star Pavilion in Kansas City, MO. The concerts starts at 9.00pm tonight and seats are available in the Right Riser in the 37th row. More details about the venue were posted on this page yesterday (and thanks to everyone who has e-mailed to say that they enjoy reading info about the venues which Kasim has played on this tour).
As stated before this is the final concert of the tour which started on 3rd June in Hannover, Germany. There have been 47 concerts in total and Kasim has played an opening set at a few of the concerts. The tour covered Germany, Denmark, Holland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, Switzerland, US and Canada. Also during this tour Kasim has played his first international solo gig. This was Kasim's seventh tour with Meat Loaf and his fifth since he became Musical Director of the band. The next issue of the Kasim Sulton Magazine (which will be issued to all members of the Yahoo KasimSulton Mailing List early in October) will have a detailed article and photos of this tour.

The first mention says "Archer Guitars USA of Milwaukee, has forged an affiliation with bass playing legend Kasim Sulton for the development of a new, artist series signature electric bass guitar. Archer Guitars is owned by Cascio Interstate Music".
The second mention says "Guitar Festival: Cascio Interstate Music, 13819 W. National Ave., New Berlin, will present Guitar Fest 2005 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1. The festival will feature Johnny Hiland (Fingerpicking Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Chris Poland (Electric Guitar), Kasim Sulton (Electric Bass, Acoustic Guitar), Will Ray (Electric Guitar), Kim Stone (Electric Bass) and Artie Traum (Acoustic Guitar).

Kasim in Kansas City
07.15 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the penultimate concert of the Meat Loaf Hair Of The Dog Tour. This concert is at the Star Pavilion in Kansas City, MO. This will be Kasim's first ever appearance at this venue (he last played in Kansas City during The Power Trio Tour in 2000.)
I've been unable to find out a great deal of info about this venue other than it's situated inside a casino. The spiel on the website says "There's no better place to see today's top performers than the stage of the Star Pavilion. Over the years, this 1,384-seat theater has hosted such legendary entertainers as B.B. King, The Righteous Brothers, Cheap Trick, Heart, and The Temptations. Recent performers include Randy Travis, Jeff Foxworthy, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban and Montgomery Gentry. The Pavilion also features regularly scheduled professional boxing matches and other special events."
The concert tonight is at 8.00pm and there is no opening act listed so it is possible that Kasim may open the concert!
This concert was only added a few weeks ago (when the concert that was originally scheduled for 17th September was moved to tomorrow) so seats in the Left Floor B (Rear) Row Q (row 15) are still available at $80 plus charges. Tickets for this concert vary from $95 to $70.

One nice quote from Kasim in the Travelogue section is "I love what I do and I thank my lucky stars each and every time I walk out on that stage.".

Kasim in Detroit
07.15 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays another concert of the Meat Loaf Hair Of The Dog Tour. This concert is at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI (in the Detroit area). By coincidence the last time that Kasim played at this venue was exactly two years ago tonight (at another Meat Loaf concert)! On that occassion Kasim played an opening act but sadly JonnyLives is now listed to open at tonight's concert.
This concert starts at 7.30pm and is the anti-penultimate concert of this tour. Seats are available in the 20th row on the opposite side of the stage to where Kasim stands for $34.50 plus $3 building facility fee plus $8.85 booking fee plus $3 traffic control fee! General Admission lawn tickets are just $7 plus charges.
This venue allows:
* Picnic baskets with food in non-glass containers
* Coolers (small)
* Ice
* Beach and sand chairs (short legs and back, 26 in. height maximum)
* Blankets, sleeping bags and tarps (although why you would want a sleeping bag when Kasim is on stage is not explained!)
* Umbrellas (patio/beach umbrellas that stick into the ground are prohibited)
* Binoculars
* Seeing Eye dogs
The venue does not allow:
* Alcoholic Beverages
* Long-legged lawn chairs
* Bottles, cans or any liquid containers of any kind
* Glass containers of any kind (including mustard jars, salad dressing jars, olive jars, etc..)
* Patrons without shoes or shirts are not permitted to enter
* Video and sound recording devices

* Strollers
The camera policy varies from show to show. The venue does not have a policy prohibiting cameras; however, many artists do. When an artist requests a 'no camera' policy, it will be adhered to by the staff. Call 248-377-0100 on the day of the show to check the artist's policy.
The parking lots open at 4.30pm and guests are allowed to tailgate/picnic in the lots before the concert

Kasim Sulton - Photo by Gary Goveia15.00 - Okay that was a silly pun but compare this link to a photo of Kasim that was taken on 24th September 2004 with this photo that was taken on 23rd September 2005 and it seems that September appears to be beard-growing month for Kasim!
To the right is a photo that was taken of Kasim on 23rd September 2003 sans beard.
