Comments by fans posted to various messageboards and mailing lists include:
"Opening night did not disappoint. There were a few flubbed lyrics, particularily on "Lord Chancelor" but Todd handled them with his usual good humor. Shortly after he said something like 'opening night, a privelege and a liability.'"

"I thought it was a good start for the tour -- not as good as the night in Morristown, but enjoyable in so many ways. Todd indeed was in good humor, though I get the sense some songs were slowed down to help him with the lyrics."

"Expecting opening night miscues, and there were a few. Was also expecting good sound, and the first half was a let down in that regard. "

"Todd's voice was in very fine form most of the evening. At the start of Shine it sounded as if his voice might be starting to give out, but then once Tiny Demons kicked in he was singing beautifully. His falsetto vocals were amazing."

"Kasim and Jesse multi-tasked on guitars and keys, and were solid as usual."

"Jessie, Kasim, Prairie, Greg, Bobby, Dirk and the choir--each musician made the whole experience over the top."

"While a very passive crowd most of the night, the longest Sns Of 1984 sing-out yet."

Todd Rundgren was interviewed in the Hartford Courant about this gig. Among his comments were:
"It's like three months' preparation or something like that, and the tours last like 10 days. So it's a lot of work for a relatively few shows."
"In some ways, it's not as taxing as the first show, 'A Wizard, A True Star,' which for me involved 12 costume changes in an hour," Rundgren says. "Regardless of how much time I spent on stage, I never had a moment to rest. In this particular show, I only wear two costumes, one for the first act and one for the second act. But we've taken a much more aggressive approach for the special effects, the lighting and so on."
"It's a whole lot of music for us to re-create. It's interesting. There's always a lot of stuff in there that we've never attempted to perform before. With the older records, a lot of the sounds were the result of things that we could only do in the studio. Music technology has evolved to the point where anything we can't literally play we can sample and play on stage."
"I was surprised that they asked for 'A Wizard, A True Star.' What I'm most surprised about is that they don't ask me to re-create 'Something/Anything?' [his biggest-selling album] on stage. That would be the obvious choice, but my fans are not the obvious."

Tonight Kasim Sulton embarks on another mini Todd Rundgren tour.

This tour consists of just five gigs and is once again playing Todd's Healing and Todd albums. In September 2010 they played the first leg of this tour.

On stage with Todd for this tour, the band will again consist of Kasim Sulton (bass), Jesse Gress (guitar), Prairie Prince (drums), Greg Hawkes (keyboards) and Bobby Strickland (sax and percussion). At each of the gigs a local choir will also be on stage for some of the songs.

The gig tonight is at the Belding Theater at The Bushnell in Hartford, CT. The Bushnell Centre itself is known as "Connecticut's premier performing arts center!" The address of the venue is 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford CT 06106 and the venue website is here. Belding Theatre (or to give its full name the Maxwell M. and Ruth R. Belding Theater) seats 907 people and opened in November 2001. This will be Kasim's first appearance at this venue.

Tickets for tonight can be purchased from this link and a couple of days ago seats were available in the 16th row at $78 (plus charges).

The choir tonight is part of Princeton Pro Musica. Kasim played a fundraiser gig for them on Saturday 5th March. Click here to read about their experience when they sang with Todd in September.
