"The first set was pure blues. 4 piece band with Prarie and Kas putting down the rhythm and Jesse accompanying Todd. No Utopia or TR songs." "From the opening strains of International Feel to the closing of JOV it was an aural and visual delight." "The band seems to be very challenged by this music as there was very little interaction between the players, just pure concentration and it was validated by the accuracy with which they played." "The crowd of about 600 was fanatical, calling out to the singer between songs. One loutish fan even walked up to the apron of the stage to address Rundgren, who was in a mid-song vamp." "Sound quality was very good but the lighting seemed to lack the wow factor that was in place in all other aspects." "Freed of studio wizardry and abrupt edits, and of the density of the original studio sound, the music had a chance to breathe, and Rundgren's six-piece band, featuring old Utopia bandmate Kasim Sulton on bass and vocals, as well as Tubes drummer Prairie Prince, managed most of the tricky changes and bizarre shifts in tempo and tone." "Rundgren didn't help himself with the frequent costume changes that struck this viewer as something out of community theatre gone wrong."

The address of the venue is 1013 K Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Click here to view the venue website. The site of the venue has housed a theatre since 1912. In 1946 the former theater interior was demolished and the Crest was built inside its building shell. The opening night for the Crest was Thursday 6th October 1949 and it was originaly a picture house until it closed in 1979. In 1986 the theatre was re-opened as a live venue and it under-went a $1 million restoration in 1995 to take it back to its glittery 1940's appearance. Nowadays the Crest features a fabulous gold leaf art deco interior. The stage is 36 feet wide and 24 feet deep.
Doors open tonight at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. Click here to purchase tickets. The face value of tickets are $73 but they also add an $8.25 Convenience Fee plus an Order Processing Fee of $4 per order! A few days ago seats were still available in the fifth row of the balcony.
