Construction of the building began on 8th December 1913 but the building was only built of material that was designed to last the year of the exposition. However in October 1915 there was a Fine Arts Preservation Day when 33,000 signatures were collected and $350,000 was raised towards the duplication of the Palace in lasting materials. The theatre seats 1,000 people.
