Comments by SueW:
No time for a full review today so just a few comments. (There's a really detailed review of the Plymouth concert here and the Gelsenkirchen here.)

  • As I'm driving this really bizarre car in Denmark (long story - long car!), I decided to walk to the venue from my hotel. It was supposed to be only about 1.5 miles away but I started by going half a mile in the wrong direction first! Afterwards I decided that walking to and from a standing concert plus standing for 5 hours there was not a good idea!
  • The tickets were misleading as mine stated that the venue opened at 5.00pm and the concert started at 6.00pm. In fact the support band came on at 7.00pm and played until 8.10pm and Meat Loaf's set ran from 9.05pm until 11.10pm. It was frustrating as the stage was all ready by 8.40pm but he kept us waiting (standing!) another 25 minutes.
  • Security at this venue were more interested in not aloowing drink into the venue rather than looking for cameras. Although there was a sign outside the venue to say not filming, recording or photos, nobody was stopping people during the concert. In fact people were openly videoing in sone parts!
  • The support band were called Danser Med Drenge and I thought they were great fun to watch and so much better than Pearl. They had quite a few fans of their own there plus in some songs most people sang along so I don't know if they're quite famous or not. They had a girl singer and a funny old guy on keyboards (wearing something like a pimp suit) who kept dancing, as well as 4 other musicians. They sang in Danish but all the songs were quite melodic and totally different from each other.
  • This venue was a football ground so could hold about 10,000 people but it was difficult to judge from where I was standing how many people were actually there. When I got there (at 6.30pm) most people were just sitting on the grass so I could easily have stood in the second row. When people did stand it wasn't packed very tightly so I started off in the sixth row (right in line with Kasim's microphone stand - perfect!) but some people left so by Anything For Love I was in the third row!
  • I seemed to be standing in the area where the drunks and very tall people were!
  • The sound (at least where I was standing) wasn't great at this venue. In fact the thing that struck me was that it really wasn't all that loud tonight. Considering it's the end of the tour, overall Meat Loaf's voice sounded quite decent, other than at the slow part of the beginning of both Blind As A Bat and Anything For Love. In the latter song he sounded quite bad at that part and yet he held some of those notes and his voice sounded really strong then.
  • Kasim was wearing black trousers and shirt (his shirt had a small coloured diamond on the back near the shoulder area). His hair still looks as though it's just been cut. As he had it cut two weeks ago now, I'm realising that it was very short when it was first cut! (It does make him look young though!) Kasim played his black KSulton bass throughout the set except for Anything For Love when he swapped to his pearl coloured bass.
  • Kasim's voice sounded very strong and clear again tonight!
  • Kasim seemed to be really enjoying himself on stage, especially during the encore when he had a laugh with Patti and then again with Paul Crook.
  • I'm really glad I came to this concert in Denmark as I wouldn't have liked to have had that concert in London as my final one as I thought that one was very disappointing.
  • They've stopped using the fake flames during Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire). They didn't use them in London either.

  • While Patti and Meat Loaf were singing DeadRinger For Love, I noticed that CC went off stage. When she came on again to sing Amnesty, she was wearing a sheer black basque under her pink and white country shirt. That shirt soon came off!
  • Kasim Sulton and Meat Loaf at Kolding Stadion, Kolding, Denmark - 08/15/08

  • I thought Amnesty Is Granted was a much better version tonight as I could hear every word clearly. (Or maybe it was because the music was quieter than normal.)
  • It was a great performance of Bad For Good tonight (although I did notice that Kasim had to count Meat Loaf in to start singing it!). That Blind As A Bat and Rock 'n' Roll Dreams are easily my favourities in the set list.
  • Tonight in Blind As A Bat Meat Loaf went and stood beside Patti to sing his lines rather than sat down on the drum riser.

  • I thought Dissentience was the best version that I've seen so far! For starters it was much longer (maybe the changing area was further from the stage???) and Kasim was totally all over the stage in it! Unfortunately it was during that song that a drunk decided to start talking to me so I didn't get a decent photo of Kasim during it.

  • When Meat Loaf introduced the band he took Kasim to the front of the stage and started saying that "at the age of". Kasim obviously thought that he was going to say his age so he was mouthing 25 but Meat Loaf said that at the age of 15 Kasim had played bass on the album Bat Out Of Hell which received a massive round of applause. Kasim then realised that Meat Loaf hadn't actually said his name so he shouted out that he is KASIM SULTON!
  • At the beginning of You Took The Words Patti Russo pointed out that it wasn't a Hot Summers Night but rather that there was a full moon so Meat Loaf joked that he'll become a werewolf at midnight. When they said the part about offering his teeth he mentioned again that they would very large ones. After the question about whether he would starve, Meat loaf joked that he didn't look like someone who starved for anyone!
  • Thankfully there was hardly any chat during Paradise By The Dashboard Light tonight although Patti had to chase Meat Loaf around the stage a few times before she could "knee" him! As he fell to his knees she then sat on his back!

  • Bat Out Of Hell was brilliant tonight! The audience really got into the song and clapped throughout - so much better than British audiences!
  • Unfortunately they omitted Rock 'n' Roll Dreams from the set list. I don't know if it was because Meat Loaf wasn't up to it or whether because they started late and there may have been a curfew. (Another reason to start the concert once the stage is all ready!)
  • At least once during the set Meat Loaf did his thing of punching Paul Crook on the arm so when the blow-up dolls came up in Roadhouse Blues Meat Loaf stood by Paul's one and just punched it repeatedly!

  • Also in Roadhouse Blues both Meat Loaf and CC stood wrapped in one of the doll's arms and were roaring with laughter! So much so that CC couldn't even sing her lines!
  • It was really good to be able to enjoy a concert again in Denmark. For the one last year I drove for 8 hours and, due to a 4 hour traffic jam in Germany, got there in time to only hear a song and a half!

Not from the concert but I know some people like to see what Denmark is like.
This view was from my hotel room and looks over a typical square.
